The Aviva Community Fund is back for 2018-19 and, as with previous years, we’ll be supporting one of our clients in their application. This year, we’ve chosen York Cares and their Number Clubs project.
The Aviva Community Fund is designed to support projects that could make a real impact in your community. Almost anyone can put forward an idea to help a local cause and receive vital funding from £1,000 to £25,000.
York Cares is a partnership of the city’s leading employers committed to making York a better place through employee volunteering.
York Cares match the skills and expertise of employers and their employees to community projects where they can have most impact. They manage a range of tried and tested programmes which deliver tangible benefits for local people as well as workforce development opportunities for employers.
Having already seen success with a similar programme called Right to Read whereby volunteers support children with their reading to improve literacy, York Cares are looking for help from the Aviva Community Fund to use this model to develop financial skills at an early age.
York Cares are looking for funding to research similar programmes and develop a model for the new Number Clubs and to coordinate and launch this exciting programme.
The experienced York Cares team will manage the programme and resources will be drawn from the existing pool of fantastic volunteers so ongoing costs are expected to be low. Success in the Aviva Community Fund could mean the beginning of a new, exciting and sustainable financial literacy programme.
We’ll let you know when the project page is live!
